Battling more than just weight

A co-worker of mine had her gastric bypass 8 months ago. She looks awesome. She lost over 100lbs. She makes me uncomfortable though because she makes rude comments by saying "we took the easy way out by having surgery instead of working out." That may be true on her end but not mine. She also said that she will have better results than with my VSG. I disagree. She has had multiple complications after her surgery. Mind you I have already lost all I want to as of now.

My concern is not to become witchy and hurt her feelings by throwing insults back. I can only walk away for so much longer.

Since she is a co-worker that you have to deal with on a regular basis then I am guessing you want to maintain some level of professionalism (which is probably why you have been able to bite your tongue for this long). When she wants to talk about how she will have better results than you perhaps you can tell her that You are glad she is happy with her results and you don't consider this a competition. Different surgeries work best for different people as long as everyone is able to achieve the results they desire it's a win/win.

I think I would probably be a bit more direct and just tell her that everyone is entitled to their own opinions. In this case, the two of you disagree and that's fine but you would prefer to not discuss it any further. If she continues to bring it up after that then I would just completely redirect to another topic.

Good luck!

Practice a script when you reply to her and always use the same one.

Something like, "Huh, that's interesting.  How about last night's episode of The Walking Dead?  Can you believe they killed off Rick?!"  I.e., acknowledge that she has said something and change the subject.  Repeat this process EVERY SINGLE TIME and eventually she'll clue into the fact that this isn't a topic up for conversation.

(P.S.  Don't worry, they didn't actually kill of Rick.)

Oh I have it on my DVR I just have to watch it. Did you know there is a whole group of woman who love Darryl and say they will boycott if he dies?

LOL, someone should remind them this is based off a comic book, if he did die maybe he'll be on another show like z nation on the syfy channel. It's also a not so serious version of the walking dead. Go zombies!

I'm pretty sure Daryl died a long, long time ago in the comic books. (I don't read them, but my partner does!)
