Maintenance/goal BMI?

My personal goal is to reach a healthy BMI number (a number that doesn't classify me as "overweight").  I am 7 months post-op and I have 19 more lbs. to reach my personal goal.  I definitely think this is something that I can accomplish but I also believe that the last 19 lbs. are going to come off much slower than the first 72 lbs.  I have come to terms with the fact that the rapid weight loss phase is over and going forward it's really learning how to eat for life with a completely healed tummy and ability to eat anything that I want.  Now it's all about making the right choices and eating the correct amounts.  WE CAN DO THIS!

My doctor set my goal weight at 195. Based on my scale I am 28 BMI. My friends told me to not loose nay more weight or I would start looking sick. I am very happy at this weight and have started maintenance. I am going to try and keep a five pound buffer on each side. Lately I have been I hovering right around 195 and 197.

I set a goal of 180 pounds when I started the weight loss process, and I never thought I'd make it below 200 pounds.  But I did.  180 pounds was mid-range in the overweight BMI for me.  My doctor was happy as long as I was out of the obese range.

When I reached 180, I still had a fat belly so I decided to continue losing weight until my belly went down.  I lost another 23 pounds bringing me to 157.  I'm now stable at 160.  This is a BMI of 24.  I still have a lot of skin in my belly, but my plastic surgeon said its mostly skin - not much fat.

So set a goal that will make you happy.  You can always change it if its seems appropriate.

I'm also 5'6.  My starting weight was 260. My original goal was 160 and then I looked at the BMI calculator and decided I wanted to have a "normal" BMI so I was shooting for 154.  I'm now 153.  I have decided that I'm going to keep doing what I'm doing and I think eventually my body will find its happy place and I'll stop losing weight.  I would be happy if I don't ever lose another pound, but I would also be happy if I was 145.  We'll see.  Good luck!  Oh, and by the way, my 8 month surgiversary was yesterday.  107 pounds in 8 months.
