Amino Acids?

My physical therapist suggested that I research if adding amino acids would be helpful for me. Does anyone on here have any experience with this or have any resources they could point me towards to assist in my research? Even with frequent exercise and physical therapy I seem to be struggling to regain some much needed muscle. This is preventing some things I am trying to accomplish with my left knee, hip and back.

I'm hitting my protein goals each day but I'm willing to add this if it will indeed be helpful.

Apologies, I am ignorant about amino acids and muscle regain and look forward to other's answers!

Did your physical therapist say if this recommendation is coming from?  If not, you should ask for copies/names/links to research articles that supports this.  Or, even a link to a professional organization that supports this recommendation.

It would be good to know if he/she is recommending from personal opinion (which can be AOK as long as you know that) or if it is coming from a much broader base of knowledge.

Edit:  I see the physical therapist asked YOU to research.  Ok, so neve rmind my recommendation to ask the PT for research links. Sorry!

I use BCAAs in my water every day.  I use Optimum Nutrition in the orange flavor.  Not sure if it helps, but it definitely doesn't seem to hurt?  I also use the same brand of CGT-10 powder in my daily shake.

Gwen, if you don't mind my asking, was there a particular reason you chose to add that to your regimen?

This article was written by a friend that I know and trust.  He has a "Science for Fitness" blog and does quite a bit of research.  I tend to follow his advice when it comes to fitness supplementation.
