loose skin?

Okay, I am just starting my Gastric Sleeve process and have tons of questions!  How loose will my skin be?  I am 5"2" and weigh 227 lbs and my goal is to be around 110-120 after .  Doctor says I have good skin so may not need skin surgery?  How bad is the sagging?  Breasts?

You will not get a definitive answer - it's totally individual.  Generally speaking, people who get the best "snap back" on their skin are: 1) young, 2) haven't been obese for very long, 3) have darker/thicker/oilier skin.

I was 51 when I had VSG, I'm very fair, was overweight/obese/morbidly obese most of my adult life and have dry skin.  So the sagging skin was bad, especially in my lower body.  Surprisingly enough, my boobs didn't take the hit I thought they would.  Even my plastic surgeon said "Your breasts aren't too bad" - LOL!

Take this one step at a time - get the surgery; get all your weight off; maintain that weight for at LEAST a year; and then reassess for skin surgery.  Your body absolutely changes during that first year of maintenance.  Fat redistributes, areas you thought were bad get better, etc.

I have fair skin too obese for about 8 years(was always thin entire life till then) Just hate my body image now and am afraid I will hate it more when I am saggy.  Right now the only place I am saggy is my belly otherwise, not bad for being short and fat.  Thanks so much for explaining; its nice to talk to people that have been through it!  Would you do it again?

If you've only been obese for 8 years (and are younger) then you have a good shot at decent snap back.

Would I do VSG again?  In a heartbeat - hands down one of the best decisions I've ever made!

your a light weight , so there is a good chance the skin will not sag badly , the younger you are the better , if you never smoked it is a big help

I started as triple f's and there down to triple d but look like tube socks without a bra , My hubby don't mind as Im a lot healthier

boobs are the first place you lose , butt , legs and tummy the last place

but I am in my 50's

eating a proper  amount of good fat helps a little with the skin , but it is mostly genetics, age and if you smoked

I'm 53; I have had four kids with very few stretch marks so I am thinking that may be a sign of good skin.  Wow!  You have done so good at losing ! I have never smoked :) I wear a D cup now I really need to  lose my belly :( But, I just started process of meeting dietician and keeping food logs so I will be at least six months before my surgery.  I am doing it because I am unhealthy: blood pressure, cholesterol, sleep apnea and now early diabetes.

Hi, go for the surgery and don't worry about loose skin.    I had vsg at age 58 after being obese for most of my life. So yeah I have loose skin.   But in street clothes its not visible and at age 63 i don't feel the urge to wear a bikini.  So I live with the skin and am greatful evey day I can do so many things I could not do before. I am happy in my skin.  diane
