V8 juice after VSG?

I am wondering if V8 juice is a good option during the weight loss stage post VSG? I like that it'd allow me to get in some servings of vegetables and some liquids at the same time but am concerned about the calories and carbs (53 calories and 10.6 carbohydrates in an 8 oz can). Any thoughts? Thanks!!

It is not a good option at all.  You do not need servings of vegetables.  For maximum weight loss keep your daily carbs under 25.  Concentrate on dense protein and only eat non-starchy vegetables if you have room after your protein.

Thanks for your reply! I'll definitely stick to dense protein post-op for sure.

From the two month mark, my NUT okayed 8oz of V8 with my unflavored protein powder, to start every day. I just couldn't stomach the sweetness of other protein shakes anymore. I am still able to keep my crabs under 25. Check with your team.

My plan is very anti-liquid calories. I'd rather get my veg in a way that fills me up, not as what amounts to a pure sugar bomb.

My Nut is pro v8 tomato juice. Not the other juices though. A very good headache pickmeup with the potassium/sodium.

V8, particularly the low sodium variety, is about the best potassium source we have without a prescription. The carb counting diets that are en vogue these days are very deficient in K as most of the best sources have carbs in them (bananas, potatoes, melons, etc.), and the normal supplements have an insignificant amount in them (3% RDA is the US legal maximum.)

100 g of pork tenderloin has 421 mg of potassium (and zero g of carbs), 100g of banana has 358 mg and 23 g of carbs. I know which one I'll choose.
