Slow down

i was sleeved on 1/12/15.  My stats are:

HW 405

Surgery Weight 349

Current Weight 240

i have noticed that the weight is not falling off like it was at first.  Is my honeymoon period really over?  I am getting most of my protein and all of my fluids in.  Is this it for me?  I would like to lose another 60 lbs.

I feel so discouraged.

Heck no.  Stick with the plan strictly and it will continue to come off.  The rate may be slower but if you stick to the plan it will happen.  Good luck!

Weight loss slows down as you approach goal.  You will lose the majority of your weight in the first six months.  It tends to be the time that you're most committed and dedicated to the process.

I think you've done an amazing job so far.  Keep doing what you're doing.  You will continue to lose weight as long as you restrict your calories, focus on dense protein, drink plenty of fluids and increase physical activity.  The honeymoon isn't even CLOSE to being over

YOU HAVE LOST ALL THAT WEIGHT SINCE JANUARY AND YOU ARE WORRIED THE HONEYMOON IS OVER?

I am pre-op and I can tell you that if/when I lost that much the honeymoon would still be going on...lol.

That is a great job! Enjoy instead of worry! You are doing GREAT!

No.  It's not over for you.  I was stuck on the 180s and 160s for what seemed like forever.  Stick to the plan.  The weight slows significantly when there's less of you to lose :)  Keep at it, you've got this.

First, Congratulations on losing 55 pounds pre-op and another 110 in 9 months!  That is excellent weight loss!

Weight loss does slow down over time, but it doesn't have to stop.  The last few months as I approached goal, I only lost 3 or 4 pounds per month.  But I did make it to a normal BMI.

Perhaps you are just at a plateau, and the weight loss will resume.  Our bodies need time to readjust as we lose weight rapidly.  This is normal.

best of luck,

Carol

It is scary to see the weight loss slow down even though you're doing everything right. It's also normal for the weight loss to slow down. The less of you there is, the fewer calories you need. Therefore, you must adjust your expectations and maybe tweak your daily calorie count to keep the loss continuing.

For me, the weight just fell off the first 2-3 months post-op, but that was mostly because of medical complications that reduced my appetite to near zero. Once the complications were dealt with and I could eat sleeve-sized, healthy meals, the rate of loss decelerated. I'm losing about 2 pounds a week now, and I'm happy with that. It took years to put all that weight on; it's only reasonable that taking the weight off will also require significant time. You'll lose that 60 pounds; you'll just lose it more slowly.

The whole sleeve experience is one during which you will need to make constant adjustments to your activity level and food choices. The point you're at now is actually pretty awesome. Treat yourself with something not food-related (although I sometimes celebrate by buying high-quality smoked salmon as my protein for a few delectable meals.).

Good grief, NO!  You are worrying over nothing and have nothing to feel discouraged about!  You have lost the biggest bulk of your weight already.  Nobody - NOBODY - can maintain that can of losing as time goes on.  As you get smaller the total amount you lose every week becomes a bigger and bigger overall amount of your total body weight.

Focus on percentages and not pounds (in fact, someone did a blog about that on this site - search for "it's percentages not pounds" - great post).

You say that you are getting "most" of your protein in.  OK - at 7 months post op there is no excuse for not getting ALL your protein in EVERY day.  Make sure you do it - and I promise those 60 lbs. are going to come off
