abnormal EKG results for pre-op

So I had my pre-op EKG done and I was called because the results came back abnormal with an irregular heartbeat. My surgery is in about 3 weeks and I am concerned now. I was told to go see my PCP to get clearance for this and get an EKG redone. Has anyone else had this?

At this point, I'm just scared that my surgery will get delayed or won't happen because of this :/

I did - they did a more comprehensive test and it came back fine.

Don't be scared that your surgery will get delayed or cancelled because of this.  A lot of those resting EKGs are crappy reads any way.  However, IF your EKG is actually indicative of a problem the last thing you want is to be put under general anesthesia and have a surgery that could potentially kill you, right?

This is most likely a little bump in the road that will get smoothed out quickly with a visit to your PCP.  Worst case scenario is that it's a heads up on a potentially dangerous health problem - and that's NOT a bad thing to find out!

I did.  I had to go to a cardiologist who checked it out, decided it was a benign condition and gave the ok for surgery, No problem, no delay. I hope yours goes as smoothly.

best wishes,

Carol

I had the same issue.....basically my doctor eluded that false positives can come back because of larger breasts and other reasons! The good news, I had my surgery and was fine. The bad news, I have basically no breasts now! ;)
