Nothing to eat or drink after midnight tonight. I need to arrive at the hospital at 1pm which means, my surgery will more than likely not be till about 3-4pm! That's a long time with no water or anything! I believe it will all be worth it but I can't help but be nervous. I find myself doubting my plans and doubting myself. Can I do this? Will I be successful? I have followed my pre-op diet to a "T" but am still afraid that my liver didn't shrink. What if all of this for NOTHING? What if I don't even survive the surgery? Just lots of emotions I hope you all understand me..

Nice job sticking to the plan. Just keep doing what you are told to do by the doctor and their team and you will be another success story. I was lucky to have had the early morning first case. It will be over before you know it and you will be in recovery. Then you will be getting wheeled to your room, then sip sip sip and walk walk walk. At this point the emotional Rollercoaster is a wild ride. I remember being excited and nervous and happy and scared. All together. I will say I would do it over again in a minute! ! You and all the others getting surgery will be in my prayers tonight.

I think we all feel that way the night before surgery. Anytime you have to schedule surgery, whether WLS or otherwise, it is scary. If you were to play the lottery and your odds were 99%, would you play or opt out. Well, your chances of losing a lot of weight are probably around 99%. Tomorrow is your new birthday!

Everyone gets nervous. You'll be fine. Every day seems like a major hurdle right now, but before you know if, this will just be a little blip in your rear-view mirror.

Good luck, and let us know how it goes.

I think everyone can understand what you are going thru...we have all done it..I also had a late surgery so I had all day to think about it..I was amazed that when they finally rolled me down to surgery I was very calm! I asked the nurses question while they were getting me ready and asked who was going to hold my hand during this..Mine was done with robotics so I also wanted to see that machine..When I went to sleep I was holding a nurse's hand! That was all over a year and 100 pounds ago! Keep us updated please...you are in for a hell of a ride...Enjoy it!

Congrats, hope all went well, you may even be home by now 1 day after? If you could make it through pre-op, I think you will be rather surprised how easy the next stage is. I can only go by me but the pre-op was much worse than after surgery, which for me was not as hard, as I was not at all hungry that 1st stage. It's only been three weeks for me and hunger is still not an issue, boredom however can be so I just switch flavors on protein shakes, try different no calories water flavors, zero cal juices, SF popsicles etc.. Expect the first week to be a little rough with moderate pain, difficult sleep, no bowel movement for up to a week, gas and or heartburn, possible nausea. The good thing is you will be out of the hospital and in your own bed! I think that makes a world of difference. I found warm tea to really help. I used herbal tea but I also drank Green Jasmine tea even though it has a little caffeine in it. Hopefully they sent you home with a pain medication other than plain old tylenol. I was given hydrocodone/acetaminophen, I used it 3 days and didn't need it, they also constipate you more. My biggest complaint was sleeping, I did not get sleep for a few days. I could not lie down in any position that I could actually sleep in, so I slept in chair. Almost 3 weeks since surgery and I've lost 27 lbs from 2 wk pre op till today. I think you will be happy with the results.
