Help! Cannot get my ring off and going in for EDG

I'm at the beginning stages, preparing for surgery. This morning I am going for an endoscopy and I am supposed to remove all jewelry. My wedding band will not budge. I tried so many tricks yesterday and couldn't get it off. Will they cut it? I am hoping they will say it is no big deal. It's my grandmother's and I'd hate to have it cut!!

Did you try lotion, baby oil, cooking grease? Slather lots of it and slowly work it off.

I meant to say cooking oil. LOL. Hope you can get it off.

I had all other jewelry off, but my wedding ring and they just wrapped it with medical tape.  Because the endoscopy isn't as intense as the actual surgery I was allowed to keep it on, but I did have to have it cut when I went in for my revision surgery.

Best of luck.

I didn't have to take my ring off, even for the sleeve surgery itself. If you must get it off, the dental floss wrap method usually works.

Hi there! I am a surgery nurse and seriously doubt the ring will be an issue since you are just having an EGD.  :) We like them to be off for many reasons but if all else fails we will wrap it with tape....very, very rare that we actually cut one off. Hope that helps!

Merry Christmas!
