Hi guys/gals, I'm super excited! 13 days until surgery! Is it crazy that I'm already packed? lol Is there anything that you wished you had packed? I have PJ's, a robe, slippers, chapstick, sf jolly ranchers, ear buds, lotion, shampoo and conditioner, toothpaste and toothbrush, a small pillow and blanket. Anything else that I should pack? Thank you all for your help!

Many hospitals no longer allow bedding from home because of risk of bedbugs.  You might want to check with the hospital.  The only thing from home that I used was the chapstick.  The hospital provided everything else and I was either walking or sleeping for the two days I was there.

I would rethink the SF Jolly Rangers.  Four of them have 15 grams of sugar alcohols.  That would give me terrible gas and diarrhea.  Your system will be pumped full of gas after surgery and getting rid of gas will be one of your first goals.

Ditch the jolly ranchers. Not a chance. Likewise.the PJs, shampoo, and conditioner. You won't be allowed to showrr for a while. And between IVs and maybe catheter, you won't get PJs on. Wear loose clothes to the hospital, same clothes home.

I brought much too much to the hospital.  You really don't need much.  I did bring my own nightgown and slippers, and I was glad to get out of the hospital johnie asap.  I brought reading material and a puzzle book, but I didn't use them because I slept the whole time.  The hospital provided all the toiletries and bedding.  I did have a pillow in the car to cushion my belly from the seat belt on the drive home.

best of luck on your surgery.  You'll do great, and you'll love the results!

Thank you all for the help! I'll ditch the SF jolly ranchers, blanket, PJ's and toiletries. I'll keep the pillow in the car for the ride home. Thanks again for all your help!

You truly need NOTHING. I brought my phone and charger and some lip balm. That's it. All I needed. The hospital provided everything else. I woke up with a catheter and an IV line to my arm. The hospital gown (They gave me one that closed in the back) was fine and they provided me with slipper socks which I wore to walk the ward.

BTW - ditch the SF Jolly Ranchers. They won't let you have them. Ice chips only at first and then only liquids the next day. Besides in your drugged post op stupor, if you accidentally swallowed one of those Jolly Ranchers you would be in a WORLD OF HURT!

Congrats on your upcoming day!
