Party Appetizer - What can I bring?

I had surgery on 12/18, and I am still in the puree stage. I go back to the nutritionist a week from today, at which time I believe I'll graduate to soft foods, if I recall her initial explanation back when I first started.

I'm going to a party in a couple of weeks, where everyone is bringing their own appetizers. I've searched through my recipes, and I can't seem to find anything that I think will work for me.

Are pickles 'soft food'? I might make deli meat with lite cream cheese, wrapped around pickles - if that's something I can eat at that time.

Does anyone have any other suggestions? Other than doing what I did at a New Year's Eve party (sipped on my protein drink in a coffee mug), I'm at a loss.

Thanks!

Sheryl

Hummus!  Yum.  Hummus is always the right choice.  Deviled eggs might also work, depending on how you tolerate them - some people have trouble with eggs.

Oh yes - hummus is yummus, I am fond of saying! I'll be so happy to reintroduce it into my diet, I never understood why it wasn't on the List (capital intended) of purée foods!

At this point in my life when I have these situations....I would bring a normal appetizer and have my pre planned before or after. I'm slowly learning it's ok not to eat at a party and focus on other things. Yeah...people might ask but as I've l learned from normies that it's ok to say you are t hungry/ate before/have dinner plans after etc.

my favorite thing right now is egg white salad. It's pretty soft and made with light mayo so it's not calorie dense. You could bring regular egg salad too with pita so there are 2 options.

Very true, and this is something I've been struggling with. I did it New Years Eve, so I know it can be done. I was recently invited to a fundraiser breakfast with a guest speaker, costing $45. My very first thought was "I'm not going to that, I can't even eat anything!" It's a whole new mindset, which I'm still working on. Thanks!

I brought shrimp that I baked (soooooo good over boiling it!) and a ****tail sauce.  I was able to eat a few and had no desire for anything else :)

I never really cared for shrimp but then I made this recipe and LOVE it!  It doesn't have the water taste that shrimp tend to have (imo) but a deeper flavor.  No matter what you make I'm sure it will be great :)

I agree roasted or grilled shrimp ****tail is the best. In the summer I like to marinade the shrimp in a Lime margarite marinade and then grill and let it come to room temp. Serve as a shrimp ****tail... yummy.
