careful with tomato if you are sensitive to acid or get heartburn. i did a cream of mushroom with no chunks myself and a drinkable yogurt.

Good tip. I haven't had any issues with acid but the original poster might've!

I'm on full liquids too and had some lovely tomato soup but whoa the heartburn was insane! So just chiming in that yes, this can happen. (And never happened to me before surgery!)

Yes you should strain it until you are on soft foods. Drink some broth to help with the hunger! For me the costco premier protein shakes were a life saver! Drink enough water to make sure this is not head hunger!

My surgeon allowed low-fat cream soups but with instructions to strain out the small bits. If your post-op instructions don't specify that you strain the soups, then I guess the bits are okay, but I would call my nutritionist to make sure.

If you eat the soup without straining have pain afterwards then it is fine. I strained for the first month because I had a lot of pain when I did not.

Its probably head hunger! It gets better!

I'm not sure how you feel about egg drop soup but it was my favorite during full liquids. I would strain out the egg pieces!
