Taking a half hour to eat 2 ounces of soup?

Hi all. So I am just about 1 week post op so I am still I'm the liquid like phase. I am supposed to be eating cream of wheat, pusding, yogurt and strained soup, which is fine, but I am supposed to take a half hour to do so. Is this normal? Taking a half hour to eat 2 ounces is weird. I take a tiny bite every 3 minutes or so. Am I doing this right?  The worst thing is that my soup gets cold by the 3rd bite lol

You're doing everything just right. At one week post-op, you have to eat (and drink) like an infant does -- tiny bites eaten slowly. It's weird, but it's what your stomach needs at this point. Reheat the soup in the microwave as often as needed.

It's always better to take it too slow than too fast. You're doing just fine.

You are doing great ! Your nerves have been cut and your stomach can't let you know what it is feeling. Following the guidelines you were given is the best way to let it heal well. Weighing, measuring and following your stages will make your journey to healthy living much smoother.

My plan was to eat and finish in 20 minutes maximum, not to take 20 minutes ....   anything over 20 minutes was considered grazing, but I don't understand why anyone would need to take 30 minutes to eat 2oz soup ...  makes little sense

Mine was the same, not to take more than 20-30 min. to eat a meal (liquid or solid). If I ate it in 15 min while still chewing well and taking small dime sized bites that was fine but not to spend more than 30 min trying to eat it. Even if you are cutting it up small and chewing well it shouldn't take that long to eat a small meal like we have to eat. I still eat this way even without WLS anymore (had lapband removed a couple of years ago) and use a small plate. Have lost to goal weight and remained since removal of the band.

Sounds about right... I would just pop the soup in the microwave real quick...WLS doesn't mean you have to eat cold soup!  Hang in there- it gets better!
