I think my surgeon told me I could swallow pills when I was three months out .  I couldn't  really tolerate until then

Some people swallow pills the day after surgery. Some can't even with no surgery.

You should be fine. If it hurts, stop.

I'm not sure what you're taking, but I was never required to crush any of my meds.

I was not allowed to take certain meds/supplements for a time after surgery until my staple line healed. After that there were no restrictions. I was taking some pills shortly after surgery, e.g. BP meds.

My WLS program at a major Boston teaching hospital say crush forever. I use to take 1 med that could not be crushed and I took that 12 hours after surgery. Check with your surgeon

Do you know why they said to crush forever?  I did that for several years after the band and with the amount of pills I take it was very time consuming. I can't see why we should crush after the healing process is over.

I never had to crush pills - not even pain pills given to me day after surgery. The only thing was I was not cleared for solid vitamins until 1 month post-op. They had to be chewable until then.
