How do you mix your protein shakes so you dont get clumps?

I used the magic bullet blender and the blender bottle when at work or away from home.

I use an immersion blender. And if by chance you are mixing yours hot, keep in mind that for most protein powders you have to make sure they are under 140 F (130F works better) so that the protein doesn't clump.

Cheapest Ninja blender - has 16 oz cups.  Gotta be careful though, some brands of protein drinks foam up a lot!

I have a knock off (it cost like $18 at Walmart) magic bullet, I always use the coldes****er that comes out of the sink and I mix 8oz (so one cup) at a time. If I need to make more than one portion I just dump the first portion in whatever cup/bottle it will be staying in and mix the second portion. Like Betsy said it will foam so you may want to get a bigger bottle or multiple bottles or cups to hold it all. I use a 20oz glass bottle and it will fit both my foamed up 8oz portions at once. The trick is not blending it for more than about 15 seconds. I do not like clumpy protein powder it will make me gag so I understand what a pain it is when it clumps. Also if you let it sit in the fridge (I often make mine the night before) just make sure the bottle has a tight lid and give it a good shake before drinking it otherwise all the protein powder sits at the bottom. :)

Ohhh..... I am so picky about this issue! First, used an Oster. Nope. I can't do ice chuncks in a shake period. Bought a Ninja. Better, still got chunks. Bought a single serve size Oster similar to a bullet. Nope. Finally broke down and just bought a Vitamix. Yep! Then, needed a blender for work for shakes... can't do a Vitamix there due to the sharp blades and working with young children. Got a Blendtec. It was cheaper than the Vitamix and with a dull blade. It is adequate. The Vitamix has an edge on smoothie consistency, but the Blendtec is good enough. Great choice for work. Not a first choice for home.

I use a shaker bottle, I put the fluid in first.. then greek yogurt if I am using it, then the powder. Usually shakes up nice and smooth.. doesn't get clumpy or foamy.

I found most of my protein powders would foam way too much or at least too much for my liking.  I ended up going with Isopure Syntrax Nectar powders - can easily just mix them with a spoon.  My favorite and what I have each morning is 1 envelope of Swiss Miss Sensible Sweets Hot Chocolate w/1 scoop of Chocolate Truffle protein.  I first mix in a little cold water until it makes a good paste texture, then run ho****er straight from my Keurig in with it.  It's a nice hot chocolate drink, and no clumps!
