Try drinking different temperatures.  I found cold water caused discomfort, but room temp. was OK.  However, if you're concerned, give your doctors office a call.  They are there to help.

You can't take care of them, if you don't take care of you!!

When I took my first sip of fluid, I nearly barfed. It was a 1 ounce cup. I got through it, it wasn't all that difficult a task. each day I could drink more and more fluid at a time. I am a bit over 5 months post op and I can drink freely within reason. I am not going to be able to chug 20 ounces of fluid at once, but I can easily drive 5-6 ounces at one time should I feel like it. It will get easier, the pain will go away. Keep in mind you are 3 days out of major surgery. Your body is incredibly mad at you for what you put it through. It will also take some time to understand the new signals your body is telling itself. Hang in there and good luck.
