After spending hours on the toilet this morning feeling like a was trying to push a 8lb baby out my backside I am caving and just ran to the store and bought Miralax.

Wondering how often you take it.  Directions say once a day for up to 7 days?  Anyone take it daily.  I can't do this pain anymore.

Thanks,

Lynn

I need to take it daily.  I found that 1/2 dose every day works for me.  I know it says up to 7 days, but I really need it daily and I've been taking it regularly for 3 years.  When I miss a day, I can tell.

I suspect I'll be taking it for the rest of my life.

Oh Carol, thank you so much.  I am so miserable.  Dose is down now I'll just wait for the fun to begin, lol.  Have a good day

Ditto for me.  On gastroenterologist's advice, I take 1/2-1 dose in my morning coffee every day.  I won't go into the gory details, but I had a nasty GI bleed (presumed to be caused by chronic constipation from high protein/low fiber diet), and the doc walks in to my hospital room and says "I have one word for you - Miralax".  Lol.   Went from bricks to nice'n'easy every day, so I now have a happy colon. :)

I have been using daily since post-op.  My physician has provided me with a prescription.  So much cheaper now.  Month's supply for less than $2.

Those large babies are are to pass

LOL, I just paid $25 from CVS.  I'll have to see about a prescription too.

I had a prescription for a year, but I calculated that it would cost me more to keep going back for an annual visit to get the rx renewed than to just buy the generic. :)   It's all the same stuff - polyethylene glycol - so you can buy the store brand (Costco has it too I believe).  I'd paid a lot more than list price for the relief of having a happy colon though!! :)

For general relief, I use a tea called Smooth Move.  My NUT suggested it.  It's works quite well after about 8 hours.
