Is this normal?

Hi, all.  I had VSG Jan 11, 2016 & have been doing well with weight loss.  I'm curious about whether this is "normal":  No matter what I eat, other than liquid, I can feel the food traveling into my stomach (if that makes sense).  It doesn't hurt, but it is sometimes uncomfortable.  I'm almost hyper-aware of the food sort of gurgling its way into my stomach.  Any comments?  Is this typical?  This happens even with greek yogurt.....It almost makes me not want to eat.....almost...... : )

Are you taking Prilosec aka Omeprazole? I'm not sure if taking this medication will help with that or not. Just my thoughts.

Just to be on the safe side, I'd recommend talking to your doc about it.  Food definitely feels different going down than it did pre-surgery for me, but we can't judge whether your situation is normal or not.  Loud gut-gurgles are normal though - get used to it! :)

Thanks for the response.  I have talked with the NP & she prescribed Prilosec (this practice doesn't automatically prescribe antacid after surgery).  I'm scheduled to see the surgeon at my next visit so I can talk with him.....just wondered about others' experiences : )

I can still feel my food go down 10 months out.  Sometimes when I'm eating and I open my mouth to take a bite, noises will come gurgling back up!  It sounds like I swallowed a Wookie!  I can really feel the food if I eat too fast or take too big of a bite :)

Thanks....I wondered if maybe I'm eating too fast.  I sometimes feel like there's an air bubble coming up.....

I am one month out today and still hear those noises daily.  Sometimes I am afraid to open my mouth because I know who ever is close to me will hear it, lol.  Every meal the same thing and I am on protonix (sp) for heartburn as well.  I've read it will eventually fade away and calm down.
