I've been feeling a bit sick since yesterday. Yesterday morning, I had awful diarrhea and felt queasy for most of the morning, but didn't vomit. Yesterday afternoon, I had some almonds as a snack and shortly after (20 minutes or so) I started getting awful stomach cramps, gas, and nausea. I wasn't able to throw up and didn't have any further diarrhea, but I was gassy all evening. This morning, I'm still gassy and am having more stomach cramps--just not as severely as yesterday--and I have a general sense of malaise. No fever or anything, just feeling tired and blah. As far as food over the past few days, I haven't been eating the best, most protein-rich foods, but I haven't had anything that I haven't eaten since surgery, and I haven't had any food issues at all since surgery last August.

I know it's kind of an out-there theory, but could my gallbladder be turning on me? I'm not able to take Ursodiol as it upsets my stomach too much (and my surgeon has okayed not taking it), so I'm not on any gallbladder medication and my mother had to have hers out in 2001. I haven't had any other issues since surgery and am down 96 pounds. I'm probably being paranoid about my gallbladder because of my family history, but if it's going to go bad, I want to catch it before it does.

The question is - what did you eat before this bout?  I have felt like that after even one bit of something sugary or high in fat, early out.

Dinner on Sunday night was some macaroni and cheese. Breakfast was a protein shake, lunch was a beef Ramen noodle cup (I know, not the best choice, but I had to because I a) am flat broke until Friday and b) wanted something soupy and soothing) and then the almonds for a snack after lunch.

I bet it was all the carbs you ate that caused your stomach discomfort.  Where is the protein?  Mac and cheese and then ramen noodles the next day.  Your digestive system is rebelling against you.

Get rid of the carbs and get the protein back.

That's what I thought. Dinner last night was beef and broccoli, and it will be lunch today (in about 15 minutes, I think). As soon as I started thinking about what I ate, I realized that it was likely all the carbs.

Broccoli will cause crazy gas too. Try dense protein for a few days. Beef and chicken. No shakes either.

The mac and cheese alone could trigger it. What you describe is similar to both my hiatel hernia symptoms and gall bladder symptoms. Gall bladder would have a bout of really sharp pain/vomiting that would be over with maybe 30 minutes later and left me with a dull ache on the right side under the rib cage. Others get a pain in the back from it.

Thanks for the response! I think the bloating was due to two factors: carbs and PMS. I cut out the carbs and started my period a few days ago and I feel much better.

You would be better off with greek yogurt than the ramen - for about the same price at the store. I agree it was the carbs.

I completely agree and had I had the money, I would've had something protein filled for lunch. Unfortunately, I'm not exaggerating when I say I only have $2.46 in my bank account until Friday, and the ramen was already purchased.
