Hypoglycemia? Low blood pressure? You should definitely call the doc about this.

Google orthostatic hypotension.  If you are on blood pressure medication you may need to go to your doctor to have it adjusted or discontinued. I was on 3 meds and now only 1.  Try getting up slowly.  Sit on the edge of your bed before you stand.  It gives your body a chance to adjust.  This is very common after WLS.

Yup, happened to me a lot, and still does now and then (not passing out, but light-headed and dizzy when I get up too fast).  Nobody ever expressed alarm about this to me, so I just make sure to hydrate well and get up a little slower. :)   You might want to run it by your doc just to make sure though.

Don't jump up.  Pump you legs a few times bicycle style.  It will get the blood moving back to your head.

When we are heavier the heart works harder to pump the blood.  We lose some weight and the blood pools in our legs when we sit or lie down.  You have to get it moving again or you will get dizzy when you stand up.

This goes away in a few weeks, for now get your legs moving before you stand up.

Real life begins where your comfort zone ends

I have low blood pressure since I lost the excess weight.  I have to get up slowly.  I've never blacked out, but I do get light-headed when I get up quickly.

You may want to check with your doctor to see what he recommends.

best wishes,

Carol

i did faint once from low blood sugar and dehydration.  I also often felt light headed when getting up and , upon checking with doctor, discontinued bp medicine.  this was about 8 weeks after surgery.     get up slowly and check bp and with doctor.  diane
