Just curious how long it takes the actual staples holding your new stomach closed to heal. Like what's the magic time frame for your stomach to not be at risk of opening?

Good question. Just had my surgery so I want to follow this.

Great question! I believe I've read that it takes six months to fully heal, but at my first post-op appointment on post-op day 8, my surgeon said the risk for a leak was very slim at that point.

I perused my book from the surgeon and it says 6 weeks til the line is healed but I'm still interested to hear from other people since someone said 6 months?? Thanks all.

My surgeon said it took around 6 months for the stomach to heal. A month for the incisions, though you gotta be careful of hernias for a while.

I was told by my surgeon and nurses that it would be about 6 months until everything goes back to "normal".

I had surgery on 6/30 and am having an endoscopy in two weeks. I doubt a surgeon would risk that if it wasn't healed.

I just asked my surgeon this a week ago at my 3 week appointment.

He said I should be fully healed at 6-8 weeks.
