Welcome back!

The first thing you should do is start tracking every single thing you put into your mouth using something like MyFitnessPal.  From there, work on getting back to your basics.  Here are mine, yours might be a little different.

1. Prioritize protein and water
2. Deprioritize carbs, especially the refined and processed ones
3. Make the most of healthy fats
4. Eat three meals a day with no snacks
      a. Do not drink while eating or for 30 minutes after eating
5. Avoid liquid calories (breakfast protein shake is the exception)
6. Weigh portions, log everything consumed
7. Eat mindfully and with no distractions aside from real live people
8. Move as much as possible
9. Weigh myself daily
10. Be kind to myself

In good news, you CAN do this!

As everyone said YOU CAN DO IT! Won't be easy but if you look at a list of the basics that got you to goal you will find you are not doing them.  Even though I had RNY I think the basics are the same for us all. Here is a list that helped me with a weight gain!  Keep us posted how you are doing and come here often for support like you did years ago

Planning/Preparing

Remember when we were preparing for surgery?  How many meetings, classes and such did we attend?  We were told the more prepared we were the better our chances were for success.  And they were right. Go through the house, car and work place and get rid of trigger foods.  Stock up on foods that will keep you on track. I removed every bad carb/sugar temptation and replaced it with lots of protein, veggies, grains and fruits.

Journaling

Get back to journaling.  This will help you identify when you feel like eating, stress factors and any triggers in your life.  Once you identify these factors, this will help you put tools in place to keep you from eating.  It became clear I was not taking time for me anymore. I worked my day job and then spent the rest of my time caring for my husband.  It was easy to reach for fast, prepackaged food.  Since I purged my home I have to eat clean as there are no other options LOL

Use a tool to track you're eating and exercise like Getting Started with Health Tracker.  Once I started to track ever bite and drink it became clear why I had gained.

Goals/Rewards

Make a list of goals for yourself.  Make them realistic and small.  Some of mine were move more, purge all junk from my home, eat more protein.

Food

In general, a long term post-weight loss surgery eating plan includes foods that are high in protein, and low in fat?, calories, and sugar. Important, vitamins and minerals are provided as supplements. (if you had a different surgery adjust this to your food plan).

Water

Water is our Best Friend. I have to say I never went back to pop or any bad drinks, however I was drinking tea like crazy. What is wrong with drinking tea?  I was either using sugar or 3 equals and 3 sweet n lows per 32 ounce glass.  So I was either pushing to be diabetic or get cancer.  I found once I started carrying a bottle of water around 24/7 (yes had one at my bedside) I lost the cravings for the sugar and I KNOW those artificial sweeteners are not good for me. Look I am old and if you add up all the artificial sweeteners I have consumed I am sure I am at the rat in the lab getting cancer threshold.

MOVE!

I can't say enough about how key this was for me. The reason I kept my weight off for almost 10 years was no matter what, I kept moving.  If I could not go to the gym I would walk. I loved Zumba, bootcamp workouts, lifting weights. When I stopped, the weight started coming back.  So for me I am starting slow to avoid injury by walking and using some of the workouts on my Demand TV.  Find something you love to do and it won't feel like a pain in the *** to do daily.

Support

If it's an option "run" don't walk to a support group.

I had my sleeve around the same time as you. I lost 110 lbs, then gained about 20 and stayed there comfortably for years. In the past 3 years, I've gone through some very painful personal issues, and I've put on over 40 lbs. I am ready to get back on the wagon and came on this site to see what the latest and greatest protein supplements and products are since 2009. I remember Matrix 5.0 was all the rage, as well as Unjury protein powders (if you could afford it). I also used to get some kind of clear kool-aid looking protein drink, ready-to-drink, and it seems like it had caffeine in it, too. I've looked for it again, but all I find is Isopure, and I'm not sure that's what it was. Maybe they've taken it off the market...anyway, I have also found this protein bread called P28 bread and ordered some samples of it. Are there any other "must have" products that have come out in the past five years or so??  I remember some kind of soy chips that were pretty good...do they still have those?

Life happened to me too.  My surgical weight was in the 260's.  I got down to 144.  But a bad marriage and a lot of beers with tears... well, I popped back upwards of 241...  on 15OCT, I decided I was done.  Got back on here & started being accountable daily, tracking every bite on my Fitbit.  I'm down to 207.6 and still plugin'!

unjury is still good.  Optimum Nutrition is another you can get in a lot of tasty flavors (24g protein/approx 120 or less).  Get Ebates and you can find the good flavors on vitacost.  You can still find bullets, I think.

most importantly, YOU STILL HAVE YOUR TOOL!!!  Get off the carbs and kick it back into gear!!!!

You've received some great advice! Can't add anything more here. Congrats on surviving cancer and you can do this with your current tool, another surgery just for weight loss is not the answer.
