Decided on the Vertical Sleeve

Feb 24, 2010

A few weeks ago I made my decision on which surgery to have.  I think the VSG has everything I was looking for in a surgery, and if I do need to I can get the 2nd part of it (the DS) down the road.  I'm really motivated to follow all the rules after surgery, and to be healthy, so I am hoping the VSG is all I'll need to get me to goal.

I had my appointment with Dr. White on February 18th at Grand Health Partners.  Had my physical and went over my medical history and had an EKG.  I was given a sheet of paper listing all the labs I need to have done.  Tomorrow, on Feb. 25th I go for my last appt with the Psych I went to (per my insurance company).  I had to go the first time just to sit down and give her my life story, the next appt was for me to take a test that took about an hour and a half.  Now tomorrow we'll go over everything and she'll send my paperwork over to GHP.  Dr. White said that as soon as they receive that paperwork (early next week) they'll be calling me to set up my appt with their Behaviorist and the Surgeon.  She also wants me to have two appt's with a Dietician (because I haven't been a part of a formal type of weight loss program before).  I just want to get a date set for surgery so I know it's really going to happen.

Right now, I'm excited about surgery and the changes I'll be making to become healthier.  I'm also scared because those changes aren't just affecting me, but my whole family.  I wish I only had to cook for myself, and not worry about what everyone else is going to be eating.  It will be stressful for the kids for awhile, to learn to eat healthy.  I don't plan on even having chips/ice cream and such in the house.  Times are changing!
