Protein meal replacements and Vitamins.

Nov 15, 2015

For people that might be looking for Protein and Vitamins these are some that have been very helpful to me. Smoothie King Gladiator shakes are very yummy! I also use Bariatric Advantage meal replacement, Premier shakes, Atkins drinks, and Eas Myoplex. Optifast was my liquid drink before and mostly ater my Gastric Sleeve surgery. It helps to get as much protein in one drink as to having to drink several to get your needed amount of daily protein. On vitamins I use Multi vitamin  Bariatric chewables from Procare health. I also use Barimelts Calcium,B12 plus and Biotin chewables. I  also use GasX  melts for gas. I also have a pill crusher for my pills that don't melt. I realize I will have to take vitamins forever so if you have any tips on good vitamins please let me know. Thanks.

Why I wanted the Gastric Sleeve.

Nov 15, 2015

My reasons for wanting the Sleeve are....   #1. So I won't have High Blood Pressure. #2. So I can have a healthy heart. #3. So my skin won't sag over my ankles. #4. So I won't be hot all the time. #5. So I can have more energy. #6. So I can start going places and having fun. #7. So I can reach my toes. #8. So I won't feel like a Jelly Roll. #9. So I won't hurt all the time. #10. So I can enjoy being with my Grandchildren and family. #11. So I won't have to spend so much on medicine. #12. So I can walk more and exercise more. #13. So my family won't have to go through the pain of losing me because of my being over weight. #14. So that I can get into the shower without falling and bumping into things. #15.  So I can get on a plane without having to get two seats .  Many more that only an over weight person or someone who has been over weight understands.  I will never ever forget the feeling of being over weight and I have nothing but respect for those that are trying to lose weight. I see and understand that it is not easy . I hope I can stay strong and continue my journey.

My Journey

Nov 13, 2015

In May of 2015 I went to the ER with results of a possible TIA. My weight was 260 pounds. That day I decided that I was sick and tired of being sick all the time and that I wanted to get healthy for myself and my family. The next day I tried to walk around the block and couldn't even get to the end of the block. I felt hopeless and stressed because I was so over weight. I stopped drinking soda's and kept trying everyday to get around the block. A wk. later I made it and felt so tired, sore, everything seem to hurt. I lost 7 pounds by just walking and leaving the soda's alone. I have family that had had the surgery and they all had great results so I did my research and made an appointment  on June 4th. with Dr.Beth Kramer and Dr. Kenneth Hollis. They gave me a list of what I needed to do and I got busy on my list.  By that time I had lost more weight and had my first appointment with my Neutrieness. I learned alot that day about good and bad foods. Soon I had done my Cinnie and Psych Evuation. Since I had been sick all the time I had a recent stress test and EKG test and I got those results for my doctor. In July I did bloodwork and my EGD, also saw the Nuetrieness for my second time. Learning everyday of how to live a healthier life. By that time my weight was 236 from just walking and no soda's. I started eating small meals and the right food. At this time I was walking a mile every morning and my energy was feeling so good! August 12th. I walked 2 miles on the walking trail and felt so proud of myself! I saw my Neutrieness one more time and again learned so much more! Finally on 9-8 my insurance told me everything was good to go. I then weighed 223 pounds and knew if I didn't have the surgery I would gain it all back. Everyday I worked hard to eat right and walk my 2 mile morning walk. On 10-1... I got bloodwork and an EKG from Dr. Hollis's office. I had already been using a Cpap machine so that was a plus for me. 10-10 I started drinking my Optifast and lost more weight.. weighing 217 pounds. On 10-15-2015 I had my Gastric Sleeve surgery and spent one night in the hospital. I walked every 2 hours to help from being so sore and to help pass gas. The next morning I did the test where you drink yucky stuff to see if you have leaks. I saw my stomach and remember feeling  so proud. I had no problems and got to go home by 5pm the day after surgery. I was lucky to have my husband to take care of me and he did a great job. He had done his research too and he did as instructed by the doctors as how to care for me. 3 days later I could pretty much care for myself but it felt good to know he was close by. My husband drove me to  follow up appointment and everything was still going good. I am feeling close to normal and I have another follow up appointment next wk. My tummy makes alot of weird sounds and I am not hungry at all. I have lost down to 207 pounds and was at 215 pounds the day of the surgery. I am still learning and getting stronger each day. I can't wait to go shopping for new clothes! I still have alot to learn and a long journey ahead.
