Tonna, Yes the nurses will get you out of bed on the day of your surgery. The idea is to get you up and moving and get everything circulating again. My doctor said they'd get me up with help the first time or two, so don't worry. My prayers are with you! (My surgery is the next day - an open RNY) Barb
