Surgery went well. It got off to a late start, but only took 1.5 hours from open to shut. I don't remember recovery, thank goodness. I woke up saying "Pain, pain, pain" and they put my pca button in my hand and reminded me to push it to my hearts content, I took that seriously and went through a bunch of morphine in 1.5 days. Recovery was easier and harder than I expected. the pain was so well controlled that it was easier. How hard it was to move my muscles around was harder. Overall the experience was fine. I did have one minor problem, i developed an upper respiratory infection that kept me in the hospital a day longer. Which was good. I was in no shape to go home after only 1 full day of recovery. I was just encouraged to breath, cough and walk a lot and assured that it would get better. Eating is a challenge, but that is expected. I am never sure if I am full, and never really hungry. But I do have head hunger, so I am glad I am home alone to work through it. Too all who posted on my sugery page, thank you.
