Since the age of 11 I have been on at least 17 diets -- many of them several times. You name the diet, I've been on it.
Although I have always battled my weight, I gained a significant amount of weight as a result of a period of depression three years ago. I have not been able to lose weight since that time.
I made the decision to have WLS because I have PCOS and can not ovulate. I am also pre-diabetic and have high blood pressure.
I will be 34 at the end of 2010 and I want to be able to have biological children. My health and weight issues make it dangerous if not impossible to have a helthy pregnancy. I know that I will have to wait 1-2+ years after surgery before I can get pregnant. So I need to start down this road now!
I don't like hospitals and I am very scared of surgery but I know I am doing the right thing.
I have gone through lots of testing, blood work and doctor's appointments to arrive at this point. Today (8/25/10) I was referred to my HMO's WLS clinic. I should have a meeting with a surgeon in about three weeks. I hope to hear something by 9/15/10.
I am married to a wonderful, supportive woman. We were married at the County Courthouse in California on 6/30/08. We have two small dogs and live in Southern California. I have worked in the legal field since my first job when I was not yet 16. I just want to be healthy and live a life less effected by my weight.
