new beginnings..

I'm new to this site, but not new to online journaling/blogging. I've been writing online at a private site since 1999, but decided to give this a try and keep it strictly for weight loss only.
this is my new beginning..
Several months ago I was out with a friend and she asked me if I'd ever considered gastric bypass. I actually had, several times and had attended a seminar the year before and had a consultation with a doctor in Massachusetts, but it didn't work out.. which discouraged me and I put the idea aside once again. My sister in law had recently had lap band and was doing wonderfully, and I asked her who her surgeon was and it turned out to be the same surgeon that had done my friends gastric bypass. I said to myself "this is a sign.." and called the doctors office that day, they sent me the paperwork and I attended a seminar in November 2010, had a consultation 2 weeks later and was approved by my insurance the first week of December 2010 (blue cross, blue shield/healthmate for anyone interested)
I finished my tests about 3 weeks ago and had my pre-op with Dr Roye (who is absolutely wonderful and I'd recommend him to anyone) this past Friday and my surgery date is set for April 7th. I cannot wait.. and the support I've found from my friends, family and co-workers has been fantastic.. I'm so looking forward to this next phase of my life.
