Hello my name is Colleen, I'm a 44 yro married mom of 2 boys Michael(15) and Matthew(14). I've been struggled with weight issues for all of my adult life, always usualy able to keep my weight under control until 4 yrs ago I was dx with hyperthyroid (I thought I was having a nervous breakdown, insomnia, depression, anxiety, etc) I had my thyroid "fixed" and it went into a normal state and low and behold over 4 yrs I gained 50 lbs. I hate to blame it on this but I continued my normal pattern eating , dieting and excersise, nothing had worked. In the last few years since I'm a visiting nurse I met several patients who had undergone Gb's and lab bands, and they were my inspiration to consider WLS. I started the process last Nov, met Dr Williams in Jan and here I am today 1 week post op lab band. I chose the band because of mininmal complications, less invaisive, and reversible. Most of the people in my life have been extremeley supportive, for those who don't get it I don't care, this is my life and my choose. So far so good, have not been on the scale yet waiting for post op vs this Fri, I've also been inspired and educated by all the members here who are really doing it with great success.
