Surgery Over - Home at Last

Surgery was on Thursday 15/03/07 - 8.30am...first cab off the rank which was good. That meant no waiting around getting more nervous than I already was.
The hospital staff were really great and Dr France was brilliant. He was very pleased with me saying that the operation only took just over an hour. He says that I now have a stomach the size of his little finger however this will stretch a little over time and when the swelling goes now.
As far as post-op pain goes, I can't really say that was any too great. It was more uncomfortable than anything, especially from the gas. Even the incision sites (I have 5) are not sore, only a little tenderness to the one where the drain was but once the drain was removed, it was immediately better.
I weighed myself prior to surgery and had lost another kg - that's 11kgs in total prior to surgery (I stayed on the Optifast right to the end) and have lost 1 more kg since surgery.
Anyway, I'm now home and recuperating and trying to deal with my liquids and pureed foods.
Will update again later but if anyone has any questions or concerns about this operation, like I did prior to surgery, I would say go for it.

Only 9 days til surgery

Only 9 days to go and I'm sooooo nervous but very excited...just wishin' it was all over.
Anyway, my endoscope went well although apparently I have a small hiatus hernia - nothing that the GS op won't fix says my doc. Never even had any symptoms but doc says some people have them for years without knowing.
While I was in hospital, I met some other lovely ladies who just happen to be having the same op as me, on the same day, in the same hospital and by, of course, the same doctor so it will be good to catch up with them again next week. Hopefully we will be sharing a room.

Just over 3 weeks til surgery...

...and I've been doing Opifast for the three weeks now and have already lost 7kgs already - not bad but geez, I can't wait for the surgery to be over and done with.
I'm finding it very hard to concentrate on anything else at the moment and the closer it gets, the more excited and nervous I get.
