My name is Julia and my story is likely very similar to a lot of others.  I've always been 'big boned' and was still able to be healthy.  I had a very strong immune system, no co-morbidity's, just 'thick'.  All of this changed at the end of summer 2007.  I was diagnosed with HBP in August.  Two (2) months later along came high cholesterol, under-active thyroid, sleep apnea, poly-cystic ovary syndrome, circulation issues and Type II DIABETES caused by metabolic syndrome...  I was devastated.

I contemplated the WLS for over 6 months before I brought it up to my MD.  He agreed, it's my last option.

It's not about beauty - I know I'm beautiful.  It's not about acceptance - I am who I am regardless of my size.  It is about getting better/healthier - Not always feeling sickly, Not having to fill/take 10+ prescriptions a month/day, Not aching every time I move from one position to the other.

I will get the weight off.  I will be healthier.
