I didn't wake up one morning and realize I was overweight. I have been heavy my entire life. I remember edging up to 100 lbs while in 3rd or 4th grade. Even as a child I was put on diets and forced to try to lose weight. I remember "sweating to the oldies" and learning how to use Richard Simmons' Meal a Deal while in elementary and middle school. During my senior year of high school, I looked good, even if I was a little overweight. My first year of college, however, added more than the "freshman fifteen". My depression and unhappiness during my freshman year of college led to more than gaining knowledge. I gained a lot of weight and added a bit more years after.

This August I will begin nursing school. After trying Weight Watchers a couple years ago and not succeeding, I decided I had to make a change. I researched and spoke to friends who'd had the sleeve done. I made my decision then to have weight loss surgery. I am looking forward to seeing myself in a different way and changing my health for the better. So, here I go on this journey that will lead me to a better life.
