Cruel Chocolate Cravings

May 19, 2012

Yesterday I was at the grocery store with my daughter, and she decided to buy a Kit Kat.  I tried to be nonchalant about it, but my eyes locked on to that kit kat, like a hawk to a squirrel.  I love milk chocolate candy. Kit Kat's aren't my favorite, but they are still covered with chocolate. I started at that orange wrapped candy bar the entire time. I wanted it. My sweet precious chocolate.  I might have well turned into Spiegel from the Lord of the Rings.

It was an awful battle inside of me. To see it wrapped up and crave it, then to see it opened up in front of me, then consumed, was another battle. "Can you break me off a piece of your Kit Kat bar?" I thought it but I didn't say it.
I craved it so bad. I had to do something to occupy my mind. GUM!  Yes, a stick of Extra kept my jaws busy.

I did make it through the night with no sweets other than the gum, despite the craving to taste it. I don't trust myself to even have small cheat days. I may eat a whole bag of candy in one sitting--because I know it's going to be awhile before I get to have it again. Can we OD on chocolate? LOL

Then...I woke up this morning, and saw something on the counter that was unfamiliar. A small plate, with crumbs that looked like gram crackers, and streaks of red gel, and remnants of white cream. I look in the fridge...there's a strawberry cheese cake on the shelf. My husband stayed up till 4 .a.m., and during that time he gave into his own craving. Went out to Walmart and bought a cheese cake. Really? a 2 A.M. sweet treat trip?    I hope I don't find myself out of the house that late, in the attempt to get a hit of chocolate.
