Month 5!!

For those of you playing the home game, we are at month 5 since our vertical sleeve surgeries. Blue has lost 70.2 lbs. and 41.25 inches and I have lost 66.2 lbs. and 31.75 inches. We have lost a person between the two of us!! I am 31 lbs from my goal weight (OMG)!!!! Blue did not set a goal weight but  he has a goal pants size and he is 2 -2.5 sizes from there!!

We have managed to travel several times and stay on track with our food. Thank goodness for that iceless cooler we bought that plugs in in the car and the house. That thing has been such a help!

We both have this weird pain around the bottom of our shoulder blades when we are exercising or walking that hurts like hell. From my investigation on the message boards, this is common, but no one knows what it is. One person supposes it is your center of gravity changing with the weight loss and you frame has to adjust. Right now, I will go with that lol. We have our 6 month follow up next month, so I will see what the surgeon thinks it is.

Most of the time when I look in the mirror I can’t see the changes taking place and I imagine this body dysmorphia will continue for quite some time. There was a picture from the run this past weekend that was the first image I have had of “wow, I am losing weight”. Our brains are such twisted bitches and can deny any evidence put in front of it so very well!!

I have been having dizziness every time I stand up here lately and immediately we were thinking of things it could be post op. Low iron, low B12, dehydration, not enough calories, low blood pressure, etc. etc. I went to my PCP today and turns out I have fluid in my inner ear that is causing it and she suspects that riding all the roller coasters a few weeks ago instigated it. Moral of the story is sometimes it’s horses, not zebras LOL.

Overall we are doing and feel fantastic! We fit on every ride with no issues at the amusement park last month, we fit in clothes we have not been able to wear in years, our youngest son called me tiny (WOW), I still can’t shave my legs without it looking like Norman Bates was in the shower with me, our tail bones are painful with less cushion(VERY), found out today that peeing in a cup is MUCH easier now (LMAO). Speaking of peeing, before surgery we had both reached a point where laughing, sneezing or coughing were not good things for our bladders and we though “well we have reached that age!” turns out we were just too heavy for our poor bladders, because now we can laugh with no worries thank goodness!!

I am still very glad I had the surgery and grateful that Blue had it with me so that we can do this together.
