I was always skinny growing up. At 5ft 7, I never weighed more than 118 lbs no matter what I ate.
In my twenties I gained a little with each pregnancy but still weighed under 150 at my heaviest by age 30.
I have fibromyalgia, hypothyroid, among other health issues that got worse after a car wreck in '96.
I had to go on steroids which caused major problems and quick weight gain. I gained 60 lbs in 5 weeks on the prednizone. Once my weight went over 200 lbs it just kept getting out of control. Each diet I went on, whatever weight I lost, I gained back and then some. By age 45 my weight had reached 271 lbs. I had 14 steroid injections in my back within the ten months prior to my weight loss surgery this year and so my face and neck were swollen besides the added weight gain.
My doctor and I decided on the RNY which I had done in March of 2009. After the first 25 lbs I lost , my back pain was gone ! It's been 4 1/2 months and my weight is down to 215 lbs. I was able to quit several meds and cut the doses on others. My back feels great. I still have fibromyalgia flare ups during weather changes but we increased my Lyrica dose today since I can't take any anti-inflammatory meds now. Looking forward to increased health and getting back to a normal weight again.
