1st fill

May 14, 2009

I had my first fill today it has been 10 weeks since surgery and I want to say that I was so scared but it was not bad at all.  I got 5cc's in my realize band . I am on  clear liquids for a week. That is really going to be hard I think because before my fill I was wide open and could eat anyting and I mean anything.  I tried to control what I ate and how I ate but sometimes I did not do well.  I should have had the fill two weeks ago but I was scheduled to go out of town and did not want to chance having any problems.  So we shall see how restricted I am in  a few days.  Wish me well.

still loosing

Apr 22, 2009

I had an appointment with nurse coordinator on Monday 4/20/09 and he was very encouraging.  I did get an appointment for my first fill (May 14th)  I asked for a date after my trip to visit my mother ins South Carolina. I did not want to have it before I went just in case there were problems.  We both agreed that I don't have any restriction now and that I am dieting.  Still with my exercise routine I am hoping that I can still loose. I now weight 336 according to his scale.  That is a total of 34 lbs lost since surgery date of 3/2/09.

Feeling Great

Apr 16, 2009

I got on a scale today for the first time since 3/31/09 and I have lost one pound now weight is 339.  I am happy with that small lost.  I went to water arerobics yesterday for the first since having surgery six weeks ago. It was a good workout and I plan on building up to five days a week (l hour each session.) I have very bad knees and so this is the best exercise for me.  I am so happy that I had the lap band.  I have not gotten a fill yet and don't have any restriction but I am following the plan of three meals a day--protein first then veggies and if there is room carbs.
Wish me continued success.

4 weeks

Mar 31, 2009

Hello OH Family I am so excited I just come from a doctor's appt. with my PCP and got a chance to weigh I have lost 10 lbs. since 3/18/09.  After surgery I had begun to get a little discouraged because  on the day of surgery  (3/2/09) I was told that was 335 down from 370 lbs 35lbs lost right?  However when I went to my first appointment after surgery  3/10/09 I weighed 350 lbs a 15lb gain.  I felt that maybe it was because I was  full of air and fluids from the surgery so I just tried to keep my hopes high.

Well today I am offically 340 not that is exactly 30lbs.  Sad to say but I cannot remember when I was 340 I have weighed  347-355 for several years.  Well I am on my way and feeling good.

I have not been scheduled for a fill yet but as long as I am still losing I am not complaining.

Waiting

Feb 25, 2009

My surgery date is drawing ever closer.  I am thinking like many OH members have "Am I ready for this big change?" I know that  I am but it is kind of scary.  I need this surgery so bad I feel bad every day with the joint pain in my knees and the feeling of being older than my years of 58.   I am now on the 7 day pure-op protein shake diet.  Just the shakes and water according to my doctor this will help to reduce the size of my liver for the operation. I am drinking "World Wide Pure Protein 35 grams of protein 12 oz can. I bought chocolate and vanilla not bad.The have 2gr of carbs and 1 gr of sugar.   Five more days to go and I will be on the losing side.

First appointment

Jan 08, 2009

Hello All
I got a phone call from surgeon's nurse great news...my scheduled appointment for Dr. Cahill on 1/19/09 could be moved up to Jan. 7 if I wanted it.  Was she crazy yea I wanted it. To be able to get the first appointment 11 days early. Th1e appointment with Dr was great. He has some concerns because I have had previous abdominal surgeries in1969 and a c-section on 1986 and I might have a lot of scar tissue.  In addition I am one of Jehovah's Witnesses and don't take blood for any reason.  The doctor assures me that he will attempt the surgery without blood,  I trust him he has performed almost 1300 surgeries with out losing a single patient.  I need this surgery at 370 and racked with a lot joint pain, back  pain, high blood pressure, and diabetes among other things.  This is my last chance to live a better life.
No I have to wait until I get approval to schedule the surgery.
Wish me well
