I am still preop, but am so very excited to start my journey with you all (in about 2 months!) I often wonder:

What is the best part of vsg/weightloss journey?

What is the worst part of vsg/weightloss journey?

Interpret the question however you like, I am just curious as to how you feel mentally about the major changes that vsg brings on. I want the good, the bad, and the ugly please!

Since I'm still pre-op too, the worst part is definitely the waiting :)  Patience?  Not my strongest suit.

I hear that! In the words of Tom Petty:  "Oh the waaaaiting, is the hardest part..."

Best part is weight loss and the empowerment that has given me, a feeling of being in control rather than enslaved by food. Worst part is fear of regain. And also the worst part along with fear of regain is the feeling of "too good to be true" and that one day I will wake up and be 220 lbs again. I guess its part of the fear of regain.

I wonder if that fear will ever subside, or if it's always something we will have to struggle with...

I hope it never subsides actually...keeps me on my toes and on plan for the most part. I figure the day I want a food more than I am afraid of its impact is when I will be at most risk for the regain so I hope a portion of this "healthy" fear stays with me forever.

That is a phenomenal point...I am going to commit that to my memory.

I had an easy surgery and recovery so far, so I would say the worst was the liquid diet. Blargh! But I'm glad I did it because I kick started my weight loss! Plus it made the surgery safer.

The best part is seeing the weight come off! And I'm also weird... I enjoyed my hospital stay... I got such a good sleep! Those were GOOD drugs!

I am actually excited for the liquid diet, just bc I know I will start losing weight. I'm sure ill be eating those words later lol!

The liquid diet was the worst part for me as I gained, almost a pound a day.  I had come off a very low carb diet in preparation for surgery.  I had lost 60 pounds in the nine months prior so doing the liquid and gain was very discouraging.

Every day since surgery had been good for me!
