big liver

Has anyone ever actually had a liver that was too big to do the surgery??????

My surgeon has gone in to do surgery and closed people up for their liver being too big.  I see you're having surgery soon.  Do they have you on any kind of pre-op diet?  If not I'd recommend just doing a low sugar, low carb diet while you wait.  That will help to shrink your liver. 

my surgeon does have me on a preop diet, its 1000 calories w very low fat. I started it monday and i cheated a couple times already. its just so hard beacause i just think it sux so bad that we have to be ona diet before surgery when were not going to be able to eat this stuff ever again, well at least for a very long time. it stinks!!!!!

Yep.  That would be me.  They got me in the operating room, opened me up, could barely see my stomach, tried to move my liver but it wasn't budging, so they closed me back up and sent me off to lose some more weight.

wow...... thats crazy. if you dont mind me asking what was your weight when u went in for surgey? omg, thats like my worst fear. How lomg did u have to wait before u were able to get it done?

306.  I still haven't had the surgery.  They want me to lose 30lbs before they try again.  They told my husband 15lbs but I'd rather do the 30lbs to make sure they can do it next time.  I'm supposed to be scheduled for surgery in June but I think I'm going to hold off until July so that I don't ruin our vacation by being too sore to do anything.

thats my exact weight rite now. were u on a preop diet ahead of ur surgery? my surgery is scheduled for june 6th, im starting to get nervous that the same thing is going to happen to me. I know its my fault beacause i have cheated a couple times but its just so hard. i'm really worried.

I did four meal replacement protein shakes per day for a week prior to surgery.

one more question for u Sylvan..... Does your dr. perform the procedure lap and open or just lap?? my surgeon does both.

My surgeon does both as well.
