How long did you all miss work
My doctor tells me I need to be out of work for 4 weeks. I cant miss 4 weeks of work. How many days is the norm.
I took 3 weeks but could have made it back after 2 weeks and I had mini-incision open RNY and also had my gallbladder taken out at the same time. One week would certainly have been pushing it.

My husband lifted things over 100 lbs and was out two weeks. Actually a day short of 2 weeks. I was back at work at 1 week. What is it you do and are you having lap or open? 4 weeks is crazy long for lap, IMO.

Please consult your surgeon & nutritionist for how to do it their way. Biggest regret? Not doing this 10 years ago! Every day is better than the day before...and it was a pretty great day!
It depends on the procedure, your ability to heal, how healthy you are as you go in to the surgical procedure and your compliance to the program AND very importantly--what kind of job you have.
I had a laparoscopic RNY on March 18th and I will go back April 3rd. That will mean I will miss 2 weeks and a day (11 work days) however, my FMLA paperwork says I can be out and covered until April 28th.
I have a desk job and took two weeks off work. I then returned for 4-6 hours a day for an additional two weeks. I wasn't in pain, but I had no energy. My doc had me on clear liquids for a week and then full liquids for two weeks following that. I wasn't taking in enough calories, so I'd get wiped about halfway through the day. Four weeks being off entirely seems like a lot.
Most people that have laproscopic RNY seem to take off two to four weeks. It depends in part on what kind of work you do.
I had complications and ended up being off nearly three months, but that is not the norm.
Why does your doc say you'll need to be off for four weeks?
