I agree . Every dr is so very different. I only had a clear liquid 24 hours before surgery and then 2 bottles of magnesium citrate

Are you allowed creamed soups? During my 2 week pre-op liquid diet I ate cream of mushroom soup, with the mushrooms strained out every day. I found it filling and satisfying. I don't think I could have made it without it. Cream of chicken soup works just as well.

Try to be mindful of the fats like butter for the noodles and the chips , they can contribute to adding fat to your liver and that is the point of the preop diet is to reduce the fat of your liver so the visibility of your stomach area are clear. You can do this and you'll be so glad that you did. Also, I would agree with the poster that suggested you find a shake that you really like. They really are not all bad. Good luck with your move. Take care of yourself. You are worth it

it is not fats that add thslick surface to the liver, it is glycogen,(sugar) from the body breaking down the carbs to sugar. Dietary fat has nothing to do with it.

Unfortunately there will always be some excuse. Like I am moving or it's Monday or I had a bad day or I'm so hungry I can't wait until I get home. We have to learn how to plan healthy meals, and how to wait with hunger. You will see a lot of the vets on here say that hunger is not an emergency. That is true. When I haven't planned properly I do go hungry for hours sometimes and it's okay because there's always more food in the world.

Okay no mean words. We are here to support and encourage one another.  I understand how you feel but you can do this. I am not even on a pre-op diet yet but doc told me to just do the shakes and liquid diet to help me lose the required weight I need to lose. I must have started that day one over and over and over again until something in me clicked. I asked myself what am I doing this surgery for? I wrote Down every complication and failure I have had because of my weight and that's when I knew I had to change. So I finally made it to day 2 and now to day 7. I have lost 17 lbs since I started. We can do this. We are stronger than we think even when our minds and stomachs try to tell us otherwise. You get it girl!!! And don't look back.

Life will always happen. Plan your food down to the last crumb and eat on a schedule. Cut out the simple carbs. They will make you hungrier. Drink as much water as you can.

There are better options at Jack in the Box that you can even eat after surgery. Get a chicken teriyaki bowl and skip the rice, or the grilled chicken strips. We all learn how to find acceptable food when we eat out; "this is the best thing I can find" is unacceptable if something is still totally off-plan.

If you can't stick to your pre-op diet, your doctor may refuse to do the surgery. That's not "mean words," that's a simple fact-- we've seen it happen to others here.

If you can't stick to a prescribed diet post-op, you run the risk of life-threatening complications, such as busting your incisions open. That too is a fact, not anything "mean," and your surgeon can confirm it.

It is possible to cheat post-op. If you want to eat a PB&J once you're healed up, nothing will physically stop you. Honest observation.
