Good morning. Have a fantastic time at the Ithaca meetup!

QOTD:  Will be working on art projects this weekend - always a joy, and even better now that the high humidity has subsided.

B: baked chicken leg

L: ham

D: roast beef

S: cheese stick, zuchinni (if hungry before bed, will have 1 cup of fresh strawberries)

Cal-785, carb-16, protein-107 (without the strawberries)

I've kept my weekly average calories under 900/day for the last two weeks (usual avg is 1100 cal/day over the week), and am down a pound this morning. At this rate it will take a looooong time to lose that last 25 lbs, but better slow progress than no progress.

Happy weekend!

Awesome!!! Are you finding 900 is doable? How do you feel?  And its okay if it takes a long time like you said as long as it goes off!!

900 is do-able most of the time - as long as I stick to meats, I don't get too hungry. I usually eat about 900/day Mon-Thurs anyway, then on Fri-Sat-Sun allow myself a specific number of extra calories for meals out with friends and my Friday night popcorn treat. The meals out will have to be adjusted to coffee dates, and no more Friday popcorn for the foreseeable future: it will be worth making the changes for a few months to reach goal, or at least get a lot closer to it!

Happy Friday, Everyone!

QOTD:  I don't have much planned for the weekend.  I will be going through my larger clothes and donating them to a lady here on the forum who asked for clothes for a 3X and 5X lady who lost everything in the floods in Louisiana.  So I will be doing laundry and packing up clothes to send to her.  I am glad my old clothes will be going to help flood victims!

I actually cooked something new yesterday!  Quinoa.  I made it with chopped green peppers, chopped tomatoes, sliced black olives, garlic, olive oil and seasoned rice vinegar.  It came out pretty good and is fairly high in protein.  I had never tasted quinoa before.  Here is a picture of it:

I finally got My Fitness Pal to let me on.  I am still figuring out the site.  I stayed on my menu yesterday and only ate 2 of my 4 listed snacks.  I walked the dogs last evening even though it was rainy.  My menu for today is:

Breakfast:  1 egg, sunny side up, 3 slices bacon

Lunch:  Quinoa

Dinner:  Chicken breast

Snack:  Oiko's Triple Zero Coconut Creme Pie Greek Yogurt

Snack:  2 string cheese sticks

Snack:  Moon cheese

Snack:  Sugar-free pudding w/ cool whip

Exercise:  Walking the dogs.

Have a great Friday and a super weekend!

I've really learned to like quinoa... but I haven't made it in a long time! One of the 'secrets' I learned about is that it's really important that you rinse the quinoa really well before you cook it. Apparently the outside holds on to a bitter flavor, and if you rinse it, you get rid of the bitter taste you might find sometimes.

The recipe AV posted today makes my mouth water! I'm making that SOON!

Pammieanne,

Do you have any tips for how to rinse it without half of it going down the sink?  Thanks!
