An attitude of gratitude...

So with all that seems important right now...the Mayan Apocolapse, the elf on a shelf, the grieving for school children shootings, the political crap, blah blah blah...I'd like to take a second.

Just a lilttle personal second...My Dad is in town, he is staying here with me. My family is intact. I am employed. I can feed myself and my family. I can give gifts to those I love. I have a beautiful Christmas tree. I have good people, friends, family, co-workers, and others that are important. I have a roof over my head. I have my health. I have love, beauty, art, books, wealth, and people who love me. I have God. I have salvation. I have more than I ever deserved. I have an attitude of gratitude. My cup runneth over. For that I am thankful. That is all.

Absolutely how I have always felt. It is the way. Merry Christmas!! Peace and love.

Funny how fast friendships form...with a singular goal.  Only one place I have known such fast friendships...I was in the Navy in war time.

Julia, after I returned home from the Navy..I worked at a company that had a large Senegaleze import.  They were flippin awesome people.  They taught me the Wolouf phrases or two.  I also leraned the love and language.  Even better....thier foods!!!  I learned the love of spice MAGGI.  Never heard of it prior...

Absolutely...the culinary pleasures here are awesome. And the people really are incredible despite the daily hardship of living in sub saharan Africa, they are positive, have faith, never lose hope and have the most amazing dignity and grace. My life has been enriched so much over the last 23 years for having had this lovely country and family in my life. I obtained Senegalese citizenship this year. So proud!

Oh completely amazingly WOW!!! Julia!!  You have lived my dream!!  God love you!!  In the Navy...I visited many places...but never any that I was able to immerse myself in the culture an actually LIVE as you have been able too.  Flippin awesome!!!  I admire you now in a way that makes me yearn to travel once again...only this time...SOBER!!  LOL...  I was young in my navy years.  And interested in the fun drunken times it offered!!!  I SOOOOOO totally envy you!!!  Live it up my Julia!!
