Steroids

I need help ! I am on some large doses of steroids for a lung infection and have a MAJOR case of the munchies. Besides fruit and vegs....what would you try ?

Steroids are hard to deal with, is it prednisone?  When I have the munching urge I find I do better by having something warm to drink, tea, ho****er with a little lemon, decaf coffee. 

Working out. Take advantage of them. No cardio though, just weights.

Your got it Karen....and a big shot of steroids also. Working out is not a option right now as I can barely breath...its pretty bad.

How much prednisone are you on and how long are you on it for?

I have been on 100mg since September. I do believe it has a cumulative effect, as I was not as hungry for the first couple of months as I have been recently.

I eat veggies, veggies, water water water and more veggies. It's difficult but doable.

I would also contradict Keith's suggestion and I would advise you do as much cardio as possible. These are not the steroids that would help you gain muscle. In fact, they often have the opposite effect. Good luck.

Veggies are great, but not fruit.  You'll want to stay away from fruit since it's sugar-rich - it'll just help you feel hungry more often.

If I get munchies, I try snacking on jerky.
