Ladies, intimate advice needed

I'm just going to be straight forward here, and hope someone has experienced something similar, or knows how to resolve this issue.

I'm in my mid-20's, and have never had any issues with vaginal lubrication, before, during, after sex. Ever since surgery, even when I am aroused, I do not get lubricated down there like I did, if at all, so needless to say, I am not having sex because I don't think I would even enjoy it.

I don't want to rely on lubricants, especially since I've never had to use them, or really even want to because I shouldn't have to. Did any one else experience this? and how long before you were back to normal?

I know it has to be tied to hormones, but I'm not sure who I would inquire about this to, my surgeon? medical doctor? or obgyn?

Thank you for any advice you may have

Mid 20s? You shouldn't be having this problem. How far post-op are you? I've been warned that I will have pretty drastic hormonal changes (I don't even have a period every month because of my weight - I'm at once or twice a YEAR) after my weight loss starts (my surgery is next week) and I'm 27. You could talk to your surgeon, but he/she will likely just refer you to your gyn. I'd just go ahead and start with the gyn to save myself the copay $, personally.

5 months out. I'm just not sure if the gyn will understand the side effects of the surgery and how it could tie into the problem, but I'm sure I will just be referred as you said.

Thank you for taking the time to respond

Even though a GYN isn't specialized in the ins and outs of WLS, they will know what happens to the female body (in that area at least!) when rapid weight loss occurs. It never hurts to make a phone call to your surgeon's office though :)

I had this problem very bad in my mid-20s. The cause for me was that I was taking an allergy pill with decongestant every day. These can dry everything out in your body. And then when I went off the birth control pill, things improved again. Are you taking any meds that could be causing the issue?

I have yet to see how weight loss will affect me though.

I had the same problem early out after my surgery and I wasn't sure if it was due to the surgery or taking birth control but it really put a damper on my sex life. But eventually things got back to normal well except in my head because now during sex I worry about it so sometimes that messes things up but I think its just all the changes your body is going through at the moment. Everyone is different. Hope this helps.

Sorry to barge in but I think I actually can help. Try increasing your healthy fats from almonds, salmon, avocados, olive oil, coconut oil. For women fats balance hormones. So eating truly low fat is not the best idea. Try to get as many plant based fats as you can fit into your plan, this will help balance hormones. Also make sure you are getting your 100 oz of water each day. If you are not getting enough water dehydration would cause this as well.

I'd shoo you out of here, but you actually have a great point.  I would listen to him, a little extra healthy fat might just do the trick.  Just make sure that the calories are not increased in your overall diet, so cut the carbs even more.
