Protein Shakes...I LOVE them

OK from other posts I have read, I am in the minority of people who LOVE protein shakes.... I have only tried a few Pure Protein (powder and RTD) Simply Right powder and my newest one Dymatize ISO-100 from GNC. I am still pre-op but have decided to make some changes now. I am eating 1200 calories or less and trying to keep my carbs at 50 or less and my protein at 120 or more. I am finding that I actually CRAVE protein.... and really don't think about carbs or sweets much at all. (Sweets typically would be on my mind 24/7)

I have a standing date with a girlfriend for Starbucks every Sunday morning at 530. So today I took my chocolate ISO-100 in my shaker cup and ordered a grande un-sweetend Iced-coffee...mixed the two together and thought I was in heaven!

So for those who like them, what else do you mix your powder with? I typically use water or Almond Breeze but I am sure there are other things that are yummy!

I like to drink protein for breakfast. You can make all sorts of flavors. I use PB2 when I want my peanut butter fix. Also for fall mixing vanilla protein powder with canned pumpkin and pumpkin spice to make a pumpkin pie shake so good. You can also experiment and use a variety of extracts like mint and banana as well. There are a ton of recipes on the Internet as well.

I have a pretty big collection of sugar free syrups that I use. Right now I am in love with my syntrax chocolate, pb2, espresso shake with sugar free banana syrup. I drink a shake every day for breakfast still. I love them and its a great way to get a jump start on protein intake.

I add unflavored or vanilla Unjury powder to my coffee every single day still! Chocolate even works when I want that mocha taste. The unflavored is only 80 calories for 20 grams of protein and the flavored powders are 100 calories for 20 grams of protein - you just can't add them to hot liquids until they cool a bit. I also like the Premier rtd chocolate, vanilla and strawberry shakes. I drink one if I don't get enough protein through food now though most days I do.

Apparently lovers of protein shakes are freaks of nature, but im happy to be in that club. A great week for me would be a week of all liquids - protein shakes!  I mix all my powders with almond milk, sweetner, and ice for milk shake like shakes. I get my sweet tooth fix and a good dose of protein.

My absolute fav is Chike iced coffee protein powder. I could die and to heaven with this.

Others i like - muscle milk cake batter, some vegan cherry jubilee protein powder, matrix double stuff cookie (and mint cookie), jay robb tropical dreamsicle and strawberry. I love Torani's SF rasberry with SF chcoloate syrup.

Yep im crazy.

I just started using the Dymatize ISO-100, I like it a lot, but I have a history of liking something through a tub or two and then I can't stand it any more.

One of the things I do is mix in a sleeve of starbucks instant coffee and CoffeeMate Caramel Macchiato Sugar Free Creamer and almond milk.

I loved protein shakes, too, when I was pre-op.   Immediately after surgery, found that they were all too sweet.   However, I tolerate Chike pretty well, and mix Matrix chocolate with caramel coffee creamer and sugar free Torani caramel syrup.

You can add me to the club! I always start the day with a protein coffee shake. Depending on my protein needs sometimes I end the day with a chocolate protein frappuccino, yum!! :-)

I Starr my day with Syntrax Nectar vanilla bean torte mixed with soy milk, a bit of cold stone creamery coffee creamer, and some ice cubes made out of chai tea. YUMMO!
