Am I eating too many calories?

Hi everyone,

I'm going into my 4th week after my surgery and all of a sudden my appetite has returned. I'm at about 600-700 calories a day. Is that normal? I'm terrified I'm eating too much. I'd ask my nutritionist but she's on vacation so I can't talk to her until after the New Year.

I try to stay between 500-800 cal 80 gm protein ,30 gm carbs or less

At your stage, I was at 300 calories a day. The first 5 months I was under 500 calories.

At 4 weeks, what are you consuming that adds up to 600-700 calories a day? Since your restriction should still be ROCKING right now, it's confusing to me that you are physically able to go that high with solid food... unless you're still using shakes, which can be relatively high calorie. As for weight loss, most people aim for around 800 calories while in weight loss mode, so you should be golden as far as the scale is concerned. Just make sure you're monitoring your protein/carb intake AS WELL AS your calorie intake... And water, of course :)

Her restriction is likely only strong if eating dense protein.  Soft foods are not nearly as satiating.  Once she can get to dense protein, then she will feel it.

Yep, you are right on with your calories.  Are you taking a PPI?  It could be acid mimicking hunger.

BAND REMOVED 9-4-12-fought insurance to get sleeve and won! Sleeved 1/22/13! Five years out and trying to get that last 15 pounds back off.

I am three weeks out and am between 400 - 600 most days.  My plan calls for a minimum of 60g of protein per day this week.  I am shooting for protein only and I am supposed to be eating 4 ounces per meal.  My plan does not specify calories, rather it lists what i CAN have and thats it.  So an average day runs me between 400 - 600 calories. Once I add in broth, SF popscicles, mayo, mustard, etc....I am close to 500ish.  Hope this helps!

I was 650/day every day after switching off the liquids phase on week three.  Later I upped it 750 when exercise was added,

it seems to have worked for me.

HW: 255 (6/5/13), SW: 240 (6/19/13), CW: 169 (9/16/14)

In a word...... Yes, my opinion is your eating to much......

Going into your 4th week means your 3 weeks out......

I was still in liquids and it was hard to get 300 cals in at 3 weeks.....

I didn't start soft foods till 6 weeks out and it was a half of a scrabbled egg....max.....

Keeping your fluids up is the most important thing at your stage.....second being protein from shakes.....
