Hi everyone,

I am 3 weeks post op and feeling great ( thank the good Lord & my surgeons skilled hands ).  My question is one that you have all answered MANY times.  I am eating 400-500 cal per day.  3 meals, no snacking other then an afternoon protein drink just to keep the protein grams between 50-80.  I have exercised 5 days this past week,  treadmill 45-50 minutes.  How is it possible not to be loosing weight???? I lost 22 lbs from day of surgery till end of second post op week & this entire past week NOTHING.  I keep thinking I will be the only person even weight loss surgery won't help :((((

thank you all... Tracey

I hit a stall 3 weeks out...if i recall so did almost everyone in my support group. It was dubbed "the dreaded three week stall".  However, you are exercising a lot and i know my nutritionist says with that much exercising you need to up your calories so your body doesnt go into starvation mode. So trying that might help break the stall faster.

Thank you.  Interesting about upping the calories.  My calories burned on the treadmill is approx 300 per session.

You have to think about your resting metabolic rate as well. It takes X amount of calories to just live, and with getting so little in anyways, you may definitely be in starvation mode. So i'd either cut back on the treadmill or up calories.

I have hit the stall in week 5. Calorie count is under 800.

Please advice.

How long is your stall lasting? Stalls happen. I hit a stall at 3 weeks and then again at 6 weeks. So you should be fine. Keep doing what you're doing and it will pass. Gotta give your body time to level out.

I think at around 5 weeks I was getting 600ish calories. But do what your doctors plan tells you to do. Sometimes you just have to wait it out. Keep up the liquids, the proteins and you should be fine

If your stomach feels bloated and you're not losing, are you constipated?
