Am I going to need diapers?

Started 2 week liquid diet yesterday, which is 3 protein shakes and 3 low sugar/low fat liquid snacks.  Yesterday and today I got really bad stomach cramps while driving and barely made it to a bathroom in time.

Anyone else have issues with stomach cramping or diarrhea while on liquids?

Check the nutrition labels on those shakes and snacks - the artificial sweeteners may be the culprit.  Look for Sugar Alcohols, or the ingredients like Xylitol, Sorbitol, Manitol; stuff ending in 'Ol'.  I had one protein bar with sugar alcohols and had diarrhea for two days!

I tried sugar free chocolate once pre-op. ONCE. The results were hilariously dreadful and I'll never touch that stuff again!

Luckily I only have a one day liquid diet, surgery tomorrow, but I have been to the bathroom a lot today. Diarrhea. Maybe it will get better after a while. Good luck!

Yes. And it only got worse until the end.  Don't trust a fart while on the pre-op liquid diet. It seems most people experience it.

If you are not used to drinking that much milk, that could also be causing it. Trying switching to xlear isopure drinks Which are at gnc or mixing dairy free protein powders with water. Good luck on your journey!

I did. ANd it will pass in a day or two (unless you have problems with artificial sweeteners). Someone wrote me and reminded me...liquid going in =s liquid going out.

So hang in there for about 2 more days and it will pass.
