I have decided to stop dieting...

A diet is when you choose to not eat something because of the consequences the food brings.  Today I decided I will no longer diet. I have noticed I am no longer saying No to different foods; I eat whatever I want to eat.  It just so happens the foods and quantities I want to eat are what's good for me.  And since I no longer have to say no to the foods I want I can say I am no longer dieting.

I am no longer addicted to food and food does not control me.

Today I hit my century mark, down 100 pounds.

I hate to be debby downer, but this is probably one of the most naiive posts ive seen in a while. If you think that you can be cured from an addiction, and if you think that you will never have problems with food again - let me tell you that you are very wrong. I too at one point probably posted something like that. I had a good solid 2.5 years where I was on control and then **** happens....No one is ever cured - you are in remission, and you are one bad day away from grabbing a carby, fatty no good piece of junk to cope....

Advice? Be afraid. Be afraid of slipping, going back to bad habits and be afraid of gaining weight....its a healthy fear that may keep you grounded in reality.

Last piece of advice - always  be on the look out for transfer addictions - like a lot of other things we have all gone through, it can sneak up on you and you wont notice until its a problem.

Great job so far - just keep your head in the game.

I agree 100%.  I think you mistook my post however, this might clear it up.  What I was saying is that "diets" do not work long term, you need to get into a healthy eating plan and keep with it (forever).  A diet indicates a short period of time where you change your eating habits, however all diets end.  I was also saying you will hopefully like your new eating plan and prefer it over the bad habits you once had with food.  You are always one flabby heart attack in a sack away from falling into the deep fryer pit, and you will always need to remember that.  Today I find myself happy with my eating plan.

Hurray!! I find that my food obsession comes and goes; it likes to pop up it's ugly little head at the worst of times.  I'm so glad you are having a reprieve from the obsession :-)

I have never been on a diet, but I have been on a food plan though.  It's when I wasn't on a plan that I gained weight.

I'm like 5x5 I don't diet but I do have a food plan I stick to 90% of the time. I do on occasion have something off plan but it is planned and accounted for. I see you've lost 100 lbs so you must be doing something right! Do just be very aware it is much easier to fail than to succeed so continue to be vigilant with what you eat. Good luck to you!
