Still up 25 pounds after 1 week!
Hi. I knew I would gain water weight after surgery-but wow! I'm almost a week out and about 25 pounds over what I was the morning of surgery. Weight is such a bizarre measurement. Makes me wonder if they put a 20 pound dumbbell in place of my stomach!!
of course I think about all those 20-30 pound 1st month weight loss posts I see and get a bit nervous.
Oh well. One day at a time. Everybody is different. It couldn't be anything but fluids on 0-300 cal/day!

I came home from the surgery with 18#'s- took two weeks to come off. Try as it might, that weight cannot stay- hang in there and best to you in this journey you're about to have. Bonnie

No-I have normal blood pressure and have not been on a diuretic. I did do a bowel prep-so I probably did dehydrate myself but I think that would account for just 3-5 pounds

My post surgery weight was 12 pounds more than when I went into the hospital that morning. Yes- definitely water weight from the IV. But I lost 2 pounds a day the first week, and got rid of the extra water. I think you are doing a much better job of hydrating yourself than I did (smile)!
There are so many changes going on in your body after surgery. My NUT said not to expect much weight loss the first month. It is so important to look at the big picture, and not let the short-term weight affect your mood and determination. I often drove myself crazy worrying about plateaus and bounces, yet, in the long run I did just fine. I'm near goal in less than a year.
Keep up the good work.

You were told not to expect much in the first month? It looks like that is everyone's best month on the ticker (20-30 pounds). I was really looking forward to that. Lack of sleep and pain must have me emotional, I'm getting teary after reading that

i would call and let your doc know. that seems like it could be a bit excessive at this point. do you have visible swelling in your legs and feet?

I have seen the doc already and mentioned it to everyone on the team.
I agree-it does seem excessive. I was expecting 5-10-but this is triggering my brain to think "see, this isn't going to work for you"
one thing I wonder is if the hematoma sitting on my muscle has drawn a bunch of water and inflammation to the muscles.
I also did a lot of strength training last week-so maybe muscle gain?
Im grasping at straws I think. Lol
